Middle School Program
12 Through 15 Years Old
What is Middle School?
The Montessori Middle School program builds upon the layers of learning that children do in the primary and elementary programs. As children enter the third plane of development, they are beginning to gain an understanding that they are members of society and have responsibilities. Adolescent children are building the capacity to form and sustain relationships. The middle school classroom is an environment that provides opportunities for creative exploration, honing critical thinking skills, exploring larger questions about the world and society, as well as investigating occupations and opportunities in the professional world.
The curriculum is taught in five cycles with an intercession between each cycle. It explores math, language, literature, humanities, science, health and more. Practical Life experiences come through increased responsibilities within the Montessori community as well as real-world internships and volunteering.
